LOVE, A LITTLE CLEARER.

The Lovers and the Chariot: Choice and Direction

Explore the Lovers and the Chariot together through a relationship planning example, with questions about choice, effort and a mutually agreed next step.

The Lovers and the Chariot can be read as a prompt to connect a relationship choice with an intentional next step. In this interpretation, the question is what you want to choose and how you want to act on it. The pair does not predict a successful relationship, mean you must pursue someone or replace a conversation about shared plans.

Give each card a job in the question

Labyrinthos links the Lovers with choices and the Chariot with determination and focus. For this optional exercise, let the first card name your decision and the second name the effort you are willing to make.

Read the Lovers card guide and Chariot card guide for the individual cards. The combined approach here is a reflective example; it does not say that determination can secure another person’s interest.

Make the next step smaller than the whole future

Suppose you and a partner are discussing how to spend more time together. Your choice might be “I want to make room for this relationship.” A next step could be suggesting one evening that fits your schedule.

Write what you can offer, then leave space for the other person’s preferences. “I can do Thursday; what works for you?” is a proposal. “The cards say we need to move forward” is not an agreement between you.

Make it about your love life.

Distinguish your effort from their response

Make two short lists: “Actions I can choose” and “Answers I need from them.” Your list might include asking a clear question, keeping an arrangement or explaining a limit. Their list might include whether they want the same plan.

If the answer is no or uncertain, do not turn the Chariot into an instruction to press harder. You can reconsider your own next step without treating the reading as a challenge to win.

Review the plan after you have real information

Choose a practical point to look back at your proposal. Did you both agree? Did the arrangement happen? Do you still want the same thing? These questions concern the plan you made, not whether the cards were “right.”

Your notes can hold both intention and uncertainty. A focused action is still only one action; it is not a promise about where the relationship will end up.

Explore your question in a personal reading

For a symbolic perspective on your connection with this person, you can ask a custom question in a Signature Video Reading: “What next step reflects my own intentions toward this person?” Koko personally records the reading, starting at $99 for 15+ minutes. Standard delivery is 7–10 days; optional 24-hour Express adds $49.
