When tarot readings contradict each other, compare the exact questions and interpretations before deciding what the disagreement means. Theresa Reed describes getting conflicting answers after repeatedly reading on the same situation. Our recommendation is to examine the records you already have, rather than buy another reading simply to declare a winner.
Check whether the questions actually match
Place the two questions side by side. “What am I hoping for?” and “What should I consider before reaching out?” concern different parts of a situation. Even “this month” and “after our conversation” set different contexts.
As a comparison exercise, write down the wording, date, spread positions and interpretation for each reading. Do not reconstruct a question from memory just to make the answers fit. You may find a genuine difference, or you may find that the readings were addressing different concerns.
Separate the cards from the interpretation
Try three columns: what was drawn, how it was interpreted and what was presented as a possible action. This keeps a symbol separate from a statement made about it.
For a fictional example, one reading encourages patience while another invites a direct conversation. You could consider whether a calm conversation followed by space is a practical option. That is your own synthesis, not proof that both readings were secretly predicting the same event. You can also decide that an interpretation simply is not useful to you.
Avoid purchasing a tie-breaking answer
In her article about repeating the same tarot question, Theresa Reed cautions against moving between readers to keep asking the same thing. Our suggestion is to pause before treating a third purchase as the solution to two conflicting interpretations.
Read our page about a reading that does not resonate. If you need clarification of a delivered statement, check the provider's stated process and ask a specific question about that statement. Do not assume that another card will establish which forecast is correct.
Return to what you can actually know
Read our facts and assumptions note. List the person's actual words and actions separately from your hopes, fears and symbolic interpretations. A tarot reading does not verify private thoughts or guarantee a future choice.
You might decide to ask a direct question, hold a boundary or wait for information that is genuinely missing. Those are practical choices you can evaluate on their own terms. You do not have to make every reading agree before deciding how you want to participate in a relationship.
Explore your question in a personal reading
For a symbolic perspective on your connection with this person, you can ask a custom question in a Signature Video Reading: “What could help me reflect on my own expectations about this person?” Koko personally records the reading, starting at $99 for 15+ minutes. Standard delivery is 7–10 days; optional 24-hour Express adds $49.
