A tarot spread for making a decision can organize reflection on your priorities and options without deciding for you. Labyrinthos describes decision spreads as a way to reflect while keeping the choice with the reader. The four-position exercise here focuses on your priority, two possible paths and the information you still need.
Define two real options
Choose a decision you can actually make. For example: “Ask for a conversation this week” and “Take more time before proposing a conversation.” Avoid pretending that you control the other person's answer.
Write down any practical limits that already apply. A stated no or a safety concern is not something to overrule with a favorable card. Read our decision with room for uncertainty page. This exercise is for reflection on your participation in a relationship, not medical, legal or financial decision-making.
Use four prompts for your own reflection
For this exercise, assign these positions before drawing: 1. What matters most to me? 2. What could I consider about option A? 3. What could I consider about option B? 4. What information do I need outside this reading?
This is a proposed layout for your own practice, not a claim about the layout of a purchased reading. Labyrinthos's decision-spread discussion similarly frames the cards as a reflective aid while leaving the choice to you. Its published layout differs from the four prompts offered here.
Translate each interpretation into a question
In a hypothetical example, someone associates an image with patience. They write, “What would I gain by waiting, and what might I be postponing?” Another image suggests directness to them, leading to, “What would I actually ask?”
Those are the person's interpretations, not fixed predictions. Read our relationship values page. Compare each possible action with what you value and what you know. If an interpretation cannot be connected to a useful question, you can leave it aside rather than force it to fit.
Finish with a practical next step
Look at the fourth position and list information you could obtain through an ordinary conversation or observation. You might need to know whether the person wants to meet, whether a proposed time works or what a boundary means.
Choose one step that belongs to you: drafting a respectful request, checking your own availability or deciding not to act yet. You do not need certainty about every future outcome to make a considered choice. Keep the written spread as a record of reflection, rather than a contract that the future must fulfill.
Explore your question in a personal reading
