LOVE, A LITTLE CLEARER.

Why Do I Keep Getting the Same Tarot Card?

Explore a repeating tarot card by recording the question, position and context. Use repetition as a reflection prompt without treating it as proof of fate.

If you keep getting the same tarot card, start by recording the question, spread position and date rather than assuming a fixed message. Leigh Spencer’s repeating-card article treats recurrence as a symbolic theme to examine. That is an interpretive approach; repetition alone should not be used as proof of an event or another person’s feelings.

Keep a record you can actually compare

For your next few readings, note the date, exact question, card, position and the interpretation you wrote at the time. Include readings where the card did not appear, so your notes do not consist only of the memorable repetitions.

This is a suggested observation exercise, not a test that can establish predictive ability. You are building a record of your own practice. Read our relationship journal template page.

Look at the position before assigning a message

In the repeating-card article, Leigh Spencer considers question context and spread position when interpreting a recurring card. You can try that lens without adopting the idea that the card must be returning for a supernatural reason.

For example, compare “What am I hoping for?” with “What could I pay attention to?” Even if the same card appears in both places, you are asking different questions. Write an interpretation for the position it actually occupies before comparing it with an earlier reading.

Make it about your love life.

Turn the symbol into a useful question

As a fictional journaling example, someone notices a recurring image of a wheel and chooses the prompt: “What pattern do I keep participating in?” They then write about repeatedly agreeing to plans they do not want. This is an invented reflection exercise, not evidence that a particular card caused or revealed the pattern.

Your own prompt might concern a choice, a boundary or an expectation. Keep it connected to something you can examine honestly. There is no need to force a dramatic explanation when a modest question is more useful.

Keep the interpretation separate from evidence

Read our what love tarot can and cannot tell you page. A repeated card should not become a verdict that a person loves you, a relationship must end or a promised event is approaching. Consider actual words, actions and circumstances alongside any symbolic reflection.

If you find yourself drawing again only to make the repeating card disappear, try closing the reading and returning to your notes later. You can leave a question unresolved for now. Neither another draw nor another paid reading is required to make the existing cards acceptable.

Explore your question in a personal reading

For a symbolic perspective on your connection with this person, you can ask a custom question in a Signature Video Reading: “What recurring theme could I reflect on in my connection with this person?” Koko personally records the reading, starting at $99 for 15+ minutes. Standard delivery is 7–10 days; optional 24-hour Express adds $49.
